Some adults seeking cognitive behavioural therapy or counselling have a very clear idea of what their area of difficulty is however many don’t.
Do not worry if you are not able to put into words why you are thinking about talking to a therapist.
It is not unusual for a client to say in an initial phone conversation or session, ‘I’m not sure why I feel I need to talk to you really’. Quite often people seek counselling because they feel stuck in some way in their life: they feel unhappy, anxious and psychologically lonely and need help beyond that offered by family and friends to make sense of what it is they are experiencing.
It is my job to enable you to share your feelings and concerns in a safe and confidential environment, helping you to gain perspective about the issues troubling you and to make positive changes moving forward.
